Dr. Dan DeKrey Appointed as Senior Executive Vice President of
Sanford Health of Northern Minnesota
Sanford Health of Northern Minnesota (SHNM) is pleased to announce that Dr. Dan DeKrey has accepted the appointment of Senior Executive Vice President (SEVP), starting immediately. With the recent transition of Dr. Howard Hoody, a new leadership structure was devised to successfully guide the organization into the future. DeKrey has held the position of interim Senior Vice President for the clinic since early August.
“As we continue to grow and Bemidji continues its transformation to a region within Sanford Health, strong leadership is important for our organization to move forward,” said Dr. Dan Blue, President of Sanford Clinic. “I am pleased that Dr. Dan DeKrey has accepted the role of Senior Executive Vice President for the Bemidji region. His expertise and knowledge of the community and its people will bring a unique and desirable voice to the management team.”
In his role as SEVP, DeKrey will work in partnership with Sanford Bemidji Clinic Chief Operating Officer, Dan Olson. They will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Sanford Bemidji Clinics and branch clinics in the region. In addition, DeKrey will work closely with Paul Hanson, president of SHNM, including the Bemidji Medical Center and the rest of the management team. Dr. Howard Hoody will continue in a part-time role and assist DeKrey in his transition.
“There are exciting changes happening at Sanford Bemidji and we look forward to growing in the years ahead, expanding and improving our care and services to the people of our region,” said Paul Hanson. “We are pleased with the permanent addition of Dr. Dan DeKrey to the Sanford Bemidji management team. In the past several months, we have benefitted from working closely with Dan as he has successfully transitioned from an Internal Medicine practitioner to a leadership role. Dan’s roots are in Bemidji and he has proved to be an asset to this organization and the Bemidji community. Our leadership team, Board of Directors, and I enthusiastically welcome Dan into his new role as Senior Executive Vice President. It will be through all our efforts and leadership that we will succeed in achieving our goals.”
Dr. DeKrey has been a member of the Bemidji medical community since 1989 as an Internal Medicine physician. He has served as Sanford Bemidji’s Chief Quality Officer since April, 2012. Prior to that, DeKrey served two years as Chief of Sanford Bemidji Medical Center’s Medical Staff in 2010 and 2011 and has been serving on the SHNM board of directors for the past five years. In 2011, he was awarded the SHNM Physician of the Year and honored as Alumni of the Year from Bemidji State University in 2004, where he received his undergraduate degree. He is currently enrolled at St. Thomas University’s (St. Paul, MN) Physician Leadership College, a collaborative executive physician leadership advanced education program of the University of St. Thomas and the Minnesota Medical Association.
